By the end of the 2009 season, Jamie converted from a reliever to a weekend starter to close out the year. On the mound, Niley recorded 23 appearances and then settled in for six starts to compile two wins over 50.2 innings of work as the Tigers' third most called upon pitcher. Jamie also struck out 41 batters and finished with the fourth most strikeouts on Pacific's pitching staff. Niley's first win came in the 11-7 victory over UC Davis on March 28, when he held the Aggies to one run through five innings out of the bullpen. Jamie's second win of 2009 came at the conclusion of the season when he came out of the bullpen for 0.2 innings as a lefty specialist and kept Cal State Bakersfield scoreless to allow for the Tigers to hold on to a 9-8 victory at home on May 23. As a hitter, Niley finished with a final batting average of .223 in 103 at-bats. He launched six doubles and two home runs and finished in the field with a .989 fielding percentage throughout the entire season. During conference play, Niley fielded a perfect 1.000 against Big West opponents.<b>Previous School (Cosumnes River College):</b><br>Jamie attended Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, Calif., after graduating from high school in 2006. Niley converted from the outfield to the pitching mound under head coach Tony Bloomfield and proved to be successful in the transition as he was named Hawk of the Year his final year. That season Jamie recorded an impressive offensive line, with a .338 batting average, .613 slugging percentage, 41 runs, 54 hits, 38 RBI, 14 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. Those numbers helped him receive a First Team All-Big 8 Conference award.<b>High School:</b><br>A 2006 graduate of Elk Grove High School, Jamie earned three varsity letters in baseball, splitting time at first base and in the outfield. The Thundering Herd baseball team was a three-time section champion in 2003, 2005 and 2006. His junior year, Niley was named Second Team All-Delta, improving to earn a first team selection in 2006 as well as the MVP and was named First Team All-Metro. In 2006, Niley was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 34th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft.<b>Personal:</b><br>James Niley was born in Dayton, Ohio, and is the son of Randy and Cathy Niley. He has two older sisters, Kristi (29) and Jessika (27). In his spare time, Jamie enjoys golfing, fishing, working out and playing video games. He is studying communications in his second year at Pacific.
